Knives To Keep Dry Wall Dust Down

By on May 13, 2014

If you’re like most people, you hate doing drywall because you hate sanding and the mess it creates. However, it doesn’t have to be that way! Today you’ll learn how to trim down your sanding by slimming down the joint compound you apply. How’s that, you say?

One reason people often have to sand so much is because they use the wrong tools (like an old 4-6″ stiff-blade drywall knife they’ve had laying in their tool box for years.) Besides the rust and cracked handle, it doesn’t do as good an application job as some of today’s newer “flexible” knives that twist and bend slightly to better follow the predictable dips and uneven contours of the average joint.

Newer knives leave behind a smoother, more uniform surface that ultimately requires a lot less sanding’thus creating a lot less work and dust! This makes drywall not such a bad project after all. Try a flexible blade and who knows? Maybe you’ll love drywall!
