When little Fluffy stains your carpet, it’s time to send up the cat signal for the dynamic duo.

First, make a solution of 2 tablespoons of Spic-n-Span in 1 gallon of warm water. Scrub the area with a cloth or sponge.

Next, rinse the area with 1-half cup of white vinegar in a gallon of warm water. This will help neutralize the detergent, preventing it from attracting dirt on down the line.

Finally, blot the area with a dry towel to pick up any excess dampness. If Fluffy is a creature of habit who works a particular spot repeatedly, you might have to call in the big guns — professional steam cleaners. You might even have to replace the carpet pad below or bleach and/or disinfect the wood or concrete below to kill off any remaining odor-causing bacteria.
