Space Bags (As Seen On TV)

Have you seen those vacuum-bag gizmos on TV that squash things down to save space? Here's how to make one with stuff you already have at home. All you need is a large plastic trash or lawn bag and a vacuum cleaner. First put bulky items you'd like to store inside (such as pillows, blankets, sweaters or ski jackets). Then insert the vacuum cleaner hose a foot or so inside. Gather the neck of the bag around the hose and hold it tight as you turn on the vacuum. In seconds, it will draw out the air, making what's inside flat as a pancake. Then slide the hose out and seal the bag shut with a twist-tie. Just like on TV, it'll stay flat for storage until you open it. And that's the On The House tip for today.
