Storing Paint

Any time you paint, you're likely to have paint left over. Extra paint comes in handy for touchups and repairs down the line. But when its time to use the paint, how will you know which can is which? Here's how to store leftover paint so that there's no guessing game necessary when you go to use it. Put a color swatch on the label; mark off how much paint is left; write the date and which room the paint is for on the lid with a permanent marking pen. While this is good advice, we have ways we like even better: Transfer leftover paint into see-through containers like a plastic half gallon milk or water bottle or a glass spaghetti sauce jar. Write or type all pertinent information on the outside and put plastic wrap under the lid to prevent sticking. You'll save space and be able to see what's inside. And that's the On The House tip for today.
