Red, White and No Blue (Ink)

Today's a patriotic day in American history. Besides being Veterans Day, on this day in 1918, America also signed the declaration officially ending World War I. It was to be signed on the 11th day of the 11th month at the 11th minute of the 11th hour. As everyone anxiously waited, they fidgeted and squirmed and played with their pens. Soon ink was everywhere; things were a mess. But these battle-seasoned veterans knew how to mop up stains. Wasting no time, they attacked immediately -- dabbing and blotting with rubbing alcohol, dry-cleaning fluid, paint thinner, liquid bleach, ammonia, detergent and even vinegar to cut through the ink's oil base and dye. It worked. And that's the On The House tip for today.
