Skim Coat Plaster

For most folks, drywall is the finishing product chosen most often. But for some people, snooty elegance reigns supreme. Skim-coat plaster is neither cheaper, easier or faster, but, in many ways, is better than drywall. Here's why: While traditional drywall is fast and economical, it is soft and quite susceptible to damage both before, during and after installation. Once up, nail heads can pop, causing bumps, and seams might show ridges and cast shadows when split lighting washes across its surface. A nice but relatively unknown alternative is skim-coat plaster. It offers the best of both worlds. When finished, walls are smooth, hard, and uniform -- with that unique look and feel that only real plaster can provide. Want to treat yourself to a touch of elegance, and step up to a bit of the good life? Consider getting plastered as the rich and famous do. Ta, Ta! And that's the On The House tip for today.
