Hear Muffs

Wondering what to get your dad for Father's Day? Tired of belts, socks and neckties? Need an exciting new idea? If dad's a handyman who works with lots of power tools or uses noisy lawn mowers and leaf blowers, he needs safety ear muffs to protect his hearing. The new Work Tunes hearing protectors will be music to dad's ears. Work Tunes combines standard hearing protectors with a nifty little built-in "AM/FM radio" that turns ho-hum safety ear muffs into spiffy "hear" muffs. They have a high noise reduction rating of 25 decibels. And to keep dad from playing his Lawrence Welk music way too loudly, the radio volume is limited to 82 decibels (85 is considered harmful). Work Tunes -- about $60 at your local hardware store -- tunes in and blocks noise out. And that's the On The House tip for today.
