Got a favorite paintbrush that's seen better days -- a really expensive one with bristles that were once soft and silky? There's nothing like a good paintbrush that just draws in the paint and lets it flow smoothly onto the surface -- leaving a flawless, gleaming coat in it's wake. But that was yesterday, right? Today it's dried out. The bristles are stiff, making paint look like it was applied with a broom. It doesn't have to be that way. To revive a quality paintbrush, boil some vinegar in an old pot or disposable aluminum pan, immerse the bristles, reduce the heat and let it soak and simmer for a bit. Then wash with dish soap, rinse, let it dry and "presto soft-o!" your cherished paint pal is back. Got a favorite brush you hate to lose? Cook it. And that's the On The House tip for today.
