Tip of the Day

Vinyl Saves Work and $$$

"Dallas" premiered on TV on this day in 1978, and season after season evil J.R. schemed to gain control of the Ewing family empire, looking for ways to become even richer. One obvious opportunity was missed when it came time to put a new fence around the Southfork ranch. He chose wood, as he had always done before. Wood needs painting after installation and needs repainting at the beginning of each new TV season -- costing lots of time and money. Instead J.R. could have used vinyl fencing with pre-built rails, posts and gates, that install with ease, and color clear through that's maintenance-free. Today there are many vinyl fence manufacturers, and some are better than others. So what makes the difference? If J.R. had chosen price over quality, instead of "Who Shot J.R.?," the season cliffhanger would have been "Why Was J.R.'s Fence Shot?" The answer: not enough titanium oxide to ward off the sun's ultra-violet rays. Now you know what to look for, too. And that's the On The House tip for today.
