In 1930, a cow named Nellie became the first bovine ever to fly in a plane. During the flight, she was milked to provide refreshments for the passengers (forever changing and adding to the age-old "coffee or tea?" question). Milk has many other uses, too, such as taking lipstick stains out of white cotton. We're not kidding. It works. All you do is mix three equal parts of household laundry bleach, warm tap water and milk. Put it in a spray bottle, spritz the stain, scrub it with an old toothbrush. Presto-white-o, the lipstick is gone! Don't use this on anything but whites as it will discolor dyed fabrics. Soon we'll be finding other creative uses for milk. Don't say "yeah, when cows fly," because as in 1930, you just might be surprised. And that's the On The House tip for today.
