Sanding Made A Mini-Blind Mess?

Planning holiday-weekend painting and fix-ups? No home-improvement project is officially done until all the cleaning up afterward is accomplished. If heavy sanding is involved, leave plenty of time for cleanup. If you've got mini-blinds, you'll need even more time. To help speed up this process -- rather than spending hours vacuuming and wiping blinds -- fill the bathtub with warm water and add your favorite household cleaner. Remove your dust-laden mini-blinds and dunk them in the tub for awhile. Later, drain the dirty water and rinse them off with either your fixed or hand-held shower head. To dry them, stand the blinds on end. You also can hang them outside, in the basement or in the garage to air-dry. You can speed things up by using a hair dryer, as well. Want to avoid this big mess altogether? Cover windows and door openings with an inexpensive plastic drop cloth. Tomorrow we'll tell you how. And that's the On The House tip for today.
