Tip of the Day

R-House (Is A Very Fine House)

Frigid weather is here. How will you react, or did you pre-act? Today, you'll learn it's never too late to winterize. You can save as much as 30 percent on utility bills by properly insulating your attic, basement, walls and floors. And the magic word here is R-value (the thermal resistance of insulation). The higher the R-value the better. There are many options for increasing insulation, from fiberglass batts that lay between studs, joists and rafters, to loose-fill insulation that is air-blown in shredded form into attics and walls. There are also a wide variety of specialty products such as rigid foam boards, jackets and wraps. For use on concrete floors and foundations and water pipes and water heaters, there are formaldehyde-free insulations. And that's the On The House tip for today.
