Tool Safety

Are you careless with chisels and circular saws? Do you plan well ahead after taking a pause? Do clothes and fingers get in harm?s way? Or do you think "safety," and keep danger at bay? Obviously some tool habits are good and some are very, very bad. Here are "some to learn" and "others to lose." When using a chisel on any material, always work away from your body. Keep both hands above and behind the sharp cutting edge. The same goes for power saws and electric drills. Keep hands and fingers out of harm?s way, and any loose clothing from going astray. Some good habits to practice are returning a drill to forward after using reverse, putting the chuck key back in place and unplugging all power tools when they're not in use. Should the power ever go down, be sure all tools are in the off position before it comes back on. With tools, some habits are good and some are very, very bad. Know which are which. And that's the On The House tip for today.
