High-tech Foam Rubber

What can a high-tech computer mouse do for a basic-101 power sander? One with a worn out foam-rubber base? Sometimes high-tech leftovers make great low-tech makeovers. When it’s time to replace your computer's mouse pad don’t throw the old one away. As you’ll see, it has many uses elsewhere. Cut into small squares, it’s a great insulator that eliminates noisy vibration. In major appliances, like an older refrigerator, just slip a little pad under each foot of the base to quiet things in a big way. When the foam-rubber pad on your power sander starts to self-destruct, peel it off, cut a new one to size from your mouse pad, attach it to the sander base with rubber cement, finish trim the edges flush and it will be good as new. An old worn-out mouse pad on your workbench makes a great cushioned work pad too. And that's the On The House tip for today.
