Lost Ring? No Big Thing...

Ever drop a diamond ring down the drain of a sink? Here is a simple measure to recover lost trasures: When you drop something valuable down the drain, it probably will get caught in the trap (that curved thing under the sink). Now, taking it apart and getting the goods seems simple enough, but traps have a way of becoming corroded over time. What seems simple can quickly become a plumbing nightmare. Here's how to get retrieve your lost treasure back without taking anything apart. Duct tape a smaller hose on the end of a wet/dry shop vacuum hose. Then remove it, cover the tank end with a piece of pantyhose and reattach it to catch the ring (or whatever) before it goes in. A bonus: your drain might perform better, too. And that's the On The House tip for today.

Bumper Sticker Removal
Try heating an old bumper sticker with a hair dryer for a minute or two. It should peel right off.
