Tip of the Day

It's Your Party

Planning a party for kids, grown-ups or neighbors? Here are a few "dos" (to be done) and "don'ts" (that ruin fun). If it's for kids, if possible, go somewhere child-proof like a restaurant that caters to such events or a city park. If it's at your place, order food in. Pizza, chicken and cake fills the bill -- and kids love it. Hired entertainment helps keep them busy. Themes and decorations keep it interesting. For kids, balloons, games and stuffed animals add fun. For adults, food, drinks, music and d?cor from foreign countries or regions of the United States work well. To ease the load, have guests bring something, too. For spills, blot with club soda, spread salt and vacuum when dry. And that's the On The House tip for today.
