Basic Home Tool Kit

The first of May is a big deal in many countries. Since ancient times, these lands have held festivals with maypoles, dancing and feasts, and, more recently, with big parades honoring the workers of the world. If you're a newlywed, college student or anyone moving into a first apartment or new home, you can join ranks with the workers of the world and do some celebrating, too. Put together a basic home tool kit before something breaks. You'll thus be prepared to fix a lot of things yourself, instead of having to call a repairman for every little thing that goes wrong. For starters, buy a 16-ounce claw hammer and a set of Phillips and slot screwdrivers. Add different types of pliers, an adjustable wrench, an electric drill, bits and a tape measure. Then add more tools as you go _ before you need them. Avoid cheap tools, they're hard to use, break easily and need frequent replacing. Get a tool box to store and carry your tools, and then celebrate. And that's the On The House tip for today.
