Ever look at your watch and then have someone ask what time it is, and you didn't know? What did you have for dinner last night? Don't know? We do all sorts of things mindlessly, including watching television. If you're over 55, you remember what life was like without television, but for most it's become a way of life -- a friend, baby sitter and fixture in our lives. Today kicks off "National Turn-Off-Your-TV Week." Organizers urge Americans to start kicking the TV habit to promote richer, healthier, more-connected lives. If you've had enough of bad programs and bleary eyes, here's what to do. First, rethink TV viewing. Look at TV listings to select things you?d like to see. Then stick to your choices and turn the TV off when they're over. Get up and out of the house. There's a world out there with books, plays and real people. And that's the On The House tip for today.
