Don Adams of TV's "Get Smart" was born on this day. His character, Maxwell Smart, was known for high-tech gadgets that defeated evil and saved the day, and would have been right at home with the new breed of robotics for homeowners that now are hitting the market. First up is the robot lawn mower. All you do is put up a perimeter wire, push the start button, climb into the hammock and supervise. Sure, you've got to watch out for occasional ditches and steep inclines, but its battery lasts two and a half-hours and trims a 50-foot by 50-foot yard with ease. And, there are more robotic chore masters -- like robot snow blowers, robot vacuum cleaners and robot trash cans that run out to the curb on theit own. And that's the On The House tip for today.
