Power Tool Trends

"Cagney and Lacey" premiered on this day in 1982. The show broke new ground as the first TV crime show in which both main characters were female. Women are having a big impact on tools, as well. One of two big trends in power tools this year is a model developed specifically for women featuring lighter weights and smaller grips. The other also appeals to the make-sense 'softer' side of building and construction -- with more multiple-use tools. They're drills, sanders, saws and screwdrivers -- all in one. They offer convenience while keeping costs down. Finally, the brakes are on as power tool-makers realize top-of-the-line monsters now weigh a ton. Today, the trend in power tools has two new schools (of thought) and women rule. Thank you, ladies. And that's the On The House tip for today.
