Dimmers: In the Mood

Bandleader Glenn Miller was born this day in 1904. Among his big hits was ?In The Mood? -- three little words that are just as important today as they were back in 1941. Lighting is increasingly a big deal, and intensity control for soft or bright is how we make things look just right. A simple dimmer switch is a good start, but today's homeowners have taken a page out of the consumer electronics book and now demand high-tech switches, panels and remote controls that do everything from programming zones for certain moods at certain times with memory settings for favorite levels to a ?movie? button that adjusts the whole house down to 'special' light levels and resets to normal when the show is over. These spaceage wireless controls can be hand-held, table-top or wall- mounted -- even motion-sensing. But they all have the same thing in mind, to put you and yours ?in the mood.? And that's the On The House tip for today.
