Tip of the Day

Picture Perfect

The Grand Old Opry's first radio broadcast was heard on this day in 1955 and, after nearly 50 years of music, many of its stars' pictures hang in the Country Music Hall of Fame. If you're hanging a picture in your own hall, here's a thing or two you should know before you hammer a picture-hook nail into the wall. Heat it first with a match. It'll go in easier and won't chip or crack plaster. Before you hang a picture, turn it over and put stick-on rubber bumpers on each corner or a bead of silicone caulk. Then let it dry well before hanging. You can even roll up masking tape inside-out and put it on each corner. Then when you hang it and line it up, these items will help keep the frame straight and level. You won't have to keep adjusting it everytime someone slams a door. And that's the On The House tip for today.
