Knife-sharpening Tips

Why wait for the New Year to make resolutions? This year make them early. Make resolution No. 1 a pledge to sharpen your carving knives for Thanksgiving. To do so, use a whetstone as an abrasive surface. Just wet it with a little water. You can also use light-grade machine oil. Then draw both sides back and forth at a 15-degree angle, until sharp. Finish them with a round honing rod. And that's the On The House tip for today.
