Wristwatch Directions

When the wristwatch was invented in 1790, it was considered a novelty. It was used as jewelry for women until this day in 1880, when the German Navy ordered officers to start wearing wristwatches. The fad soon spread to other countries, and today almost everybody wears a watch. But, most folks don't know their timepiece also can help them find their way, as long as the sun is up and shining. All you need to do to find due south is point the hour hand toward the sun; due south will be directly in the middle of the angle formed by the hour hand and 12 noon, and due north will be directly opposite. This works unless it's dark, you're in a mall or wearing a digital watch. And that's the On The House tip for today.
