Second-story Windows to Wash?

"Leave It To Beaver" first aired this day in 1957 with the typical family and two boys always getting in and out of trouble. Do you remember the time June and Ward gave Beaver $20 to buy a professional-type extension washer tool that could reach up to their second-story windows? As luck would have it, the "Beav" lost the 20 bucks, and he and Wally had to get creative fast. Pooling their money (a total of $4), the boys again headed for the hardware store and bought a 10-foot length of 1-1/2" PVC pipe. Returning home, they inserted an auto windshield squeegee handle into the pipe, drilled a hole clear through, secured it with a nut and bolt, and proceeded to wash the second-story windows all around the house. They were scrubbing with one side and squeegeeing it off with the other -- and finished in record time. Ward and June returned home to sparkling windows and with no one the wiser. And that's the On The House tip for today.
