"The Andy Griffith Show" made its debut this day in 1960. As there was very little crime in Mayberry, it revolved around relationships between Barney, Opie and the gang. Included was a lot of homespun wisdom by Andy and lovable Aunt Bea, like their solution for stale, musty air the first time they turned on their furnace in the fall. While Andy removed the grill from the return air duct in the largest room of the house, Barney bought solid room air fresheners down at the drugstore. Aunt Bea put them just inside the duct opening so the furnace fan could draw the fresh scent of spring into the central system, distributing it throughout the house. While Andy put the vent cover back on, Aunt Bea gave each lightbulb a spritz of her favorite perfume to create a sweet aroma in every room. Then, the boys grabbed their rods and reels and set out to go fishing -- just another day in Mayberry! And that's the On The House tip for today.
