Tip of the Day



Screws, Bolts and Nuts

In 1842, a machine was patented to mass-produce nuts and bolts. There are ways to decide which fasteners -- like nuts and bolts and screws -- to use. Screws have greater holding power than do nails, and different threads for various materials. There are round and flat heads with slots, sockets or hex-heads for driving power. Screws can be driven in with power tools. But nuts and bolts are stronger yet. They are easy to remove, and done so with little damage. There are different types for different jobs. Nuts and bolts can be power-tightened or easily removed the same way. And that's the On The House tip for today.
