Skylights and Neatness

Adding a skylight in your home, whether professionally installed or done by you, always takes longer than you would think. That means your kitchen, bedroom, living room or bath is going to be basically unusable and messed up for quite awhile. Make a light tunnel from ceiling to floor by taping sheets of clear plastic film to contain dust, and keep outside weather out and inside conditioned air in. This undertaking will shed plenty of light on the subject, to boot. Or you can use four telescoping, spring-loaded poles to create a ceiling-to-floor framework around which you can wrap the clear plastic. Do this and you can take as long as you like to finish. And that's the On The House tip for today.
