Buying a Refrigerator

You know it's time for a new refrigerator when the old one starts making noise or won't hold steady temperatures or just quits working altogether. But what you might not know is if it's more than 10 years old, it could be using an extra $100 or more worth of electricity a year --even more, if it's older than that. A new refrigerator provides four important things: accurate cooling to keep foods fresh and healthy, added convenience for your family, contemporary design and styling for your kitchen, and energy savings through better efficiency. New refrigerators also have many new options to consider like water- and ice dispensers and through-door refreshment centers (a small opening to gain access to milk, juice and sodas without opening the door). Other new offerings include see-through bins and crank-operated shelves that adjust up and down without unloading. Some models even have built-in self-diagnostic sensors that tell you when something needs attention. And that's the On The House tip for today.
