Tip of the Day

Privacy is the Key

Are you tired of playing the key game? Wondering who might have a copy of your front-door key? Service people? Previous guests? Old friends, lovers or ex-spouses? Who knows just how many copies of your key might be floating around. The solution is to install a new entrance deadbolt lock, only this time with a little difference. Instead of having both the deadbolt locks and doorknob locks keyed the same, use two lock settings that require different keys. Then have the knob-lockset assembly master-keyed. That way only your key will open both locks while handout keys for service people and guests will open only the knob lock alone. It makes the deadbolt your privacy insurance. Privacy is the key. And that's the On The House tip for today.
