Tip of the Day

Dim The Lights

To create a little ambiance, elegance, and romance for Valentine's Day, try replacing an everyday standard wall switch with and easy-to-install dimmer switch. All it takes is a screwdriver and about 15 minutes. Visit your local hardware store and choose from one of the many basic types. Whatever you choose, installation is pretty much the same. First turn off the power, and let the family know what you're doing, so no one turns it back on. Remove the cover- and switch screws, pull the switch out and disconnect the wires. Then reconnect them to the dimmer. Reinstall the switch and cover -- and power up. Then dim the lights and pour the wine. And that's the On The House tip for today.
