Wet-dry shop vacuums are handy and nice to have, but sometimes they need a little help. While they come with a wide assortment of attachments to handle many types of clean-up chores, there are times when something more is needed. One such instance is when one drills into concrete to install various types of anchors. After drilling, the resultant dust must first be removed from the hole before installing the anchor. Blowing it out is an option, but it’s dusty, messy and can injure one's eyes. Instead, construct a step-down series of PVC pipe reducers and keep adding them on, and slimming down the hose-nozzle tip to a smaller size -- one that easily fits deep into the hole. It turns any wet-dry shop vac into a dynamic duo, one for regular pickups and one for deep-drilled hole cleanouts. And that's the On The House tip for today.
