Getting ready for Thanksgiving? Why prepare the turkey the same old
way? This year, for a tasty Thanksgiving treat, consider barbecuing your holiday bird. Grilling adds flavor and frees your oven for other things, like casseroles, veggies and oodles of stuffing, It's easy, too. Here's all you do: a 12-pound bird fits a 22-inch charcoal kettle or a two-burner gas grill perfectly. Rub the skin with a light coat of cooking oil, then rub inside and out with a mixture of 1 tablespoon each of salt, pepper, paprika and brown sugar. And don't stuff your turkey -- cook stuffing separately. Place coals to the side with a drip pan in the middle. Or for gas, light only one side, set on medium and put the bird on the other side with a drip pan. Then grill (covered) for about three hours -- until your meat thermometer reads 180-degrees. Want to try something tasty and new? This year make it a big-bird barbecue. And that's the On The House Tip for today.
