It's a beautiful fall evening and you think, ?Gee, I wonder what the temperature is?hmmmmm.? Today you'll learn how to determine temperature by listening to the crickets.
Here's how : From deep within the Carey Brothers? vault of ?working with nature info,? we bring things Mother Nature knows. Indeed, it says here that when you're outdoors at night, and want to know what the temperature is, it's easy? if you just listen to the crickets. While looking at the second hand on your watch, count the number of cricket chirps during a 15-second period; add fourty-five to that number and it will give you the approximate Fahrenheit temperature, give or take a degree or two (because it's coming from where the cricket is), and only within the 55 to 100 degrees range (crickets don't operate much above or below that).
Now, no one knows precisely why it works, but it doessometimes better than many store-bought thermometers!
Annoyed by all that cricket chirping? Relax. They're just doin? their job, weather-wise.
