Hanger bolt solution

With wood threads on one end and machine threads on the other, hanger bolts often are used for hanging-plant ceiling hooks. But screwing in the wood thread end with a gripping tool, such as pliers, without damaging the threads at the other end can be difficult. There is a solution, however. The answer is to use a threaded rod-coupling sleeve. Install it onto the machine, thread-end first. Then, using a gripping tool (pliers or wrench) screw in the bolt -- without damaging the threads. Then unscrew the coupling. For more tips, visit our Web site at onthehouse.com. And that's the On The House tip for today.
