Deadbolt Kiss and Tell

You drill the jamb, close the lock yet it won't work. Today, in a caper we call ?deadbolt kiss and tell, you'll learn how to remedy this. Here's how: installing a latch set or a deadbolt can be tricky. And hitting a hole in the jamb with the bolt or latch requires a good eye and true aim. You can try hit or miss, or you can do it our way -- with a kiss. Just get hold of a lipstick, then install the deadbolt or latch in the door. Apply some lipstick on the end surface, close the door and turn the deadbolt until it ?kisses? the doorjamb. It'll leave a telltale lipstick mark showing exactly where to put the strike-plate hole. And that's the On The House tip for today.
