Are the doors on the old ranch house looking a mite sorry? Are they sagging, drooping and hanging? Today, we'll help you fix them because it's a good day for a re-hanging. Screws in door hinges tend to loosen after years of opening and closing. It's a reality you can't escape. One easy answer is removing one screw out of each hinge and replacing it with one that's a tad longer; one that's long enough to screw into the 2 by 4 behind the door jamb. That'll give it extra holding power. If your door's very loose (and drooping), remove all the screws and plug each hole with a hardwood dowel dipped in yellow wood glue. When it dries, re-drill the holes just a mite higher than before. And that's the On The House tip for today.
