Tip of the Day

Tape Rack and Roll

Scotch Tape made it's debut on this day in 1928. It was invented by the 3-M Company, which has brought us many variations since -- like masking, electrical and double-sided tape, in various widths and sizes. The result: we have many to choose from. Now, if we could only find them when we need them. The solution is at hand. Find every roll and type in your home or shop. When they're all in one place, put them on a cheap bathroom tissue holder and hang it on the wall, or mount dowel rods as needed between wall studs in your shop or garage to hold them all. Another tape tip: if they dry out over time, heat them with a hair dryer or in the microwave for 20 seconds -- they'll come right back to life. And that's the On The House tip for today.

Dealing With Floods and Emergency Roof Leaks
If a roof leak develops, drill a hole in the ceiling to reduce damage to the ceiling-cover material and to create a collection point for the leaking water.
