Today's a holiday for lots of folks. For some that means loafing, goofing off or maybe Monday Night Football. But for others (forget football) it is honey-do day. That means doing chores, painting and fixing, taking stuff up to the attic, down to the basement or rearranging heavy furniture. When you do, here's a few honey-do "don'ts" that will keep you from hurting yourself. For heavy lifting, get close, bend down with your knees -- never from the waist -- keep your back straight and lift up with your legs. When pushing heavy objects, power-push with your legs, never your back. If you need to turn while lifting or pushing, shuffle your feet into position without twisting your back. Never try to lift or move a heavy item by yourself. Get help, or you could hurt yourself and wind up with a pulled muscle or sprained back and have to spend time in bed or on the couch watching Monday Night Football. And that's the On The House tip for today.
