Tip of the Day

Styrofoam Peanuts

This time of year folks wind up with lots of peanuts -- Styrofoam peanuts -- the kind used as loose-fill packing for gifts and packages. Don't throw them away because, with few exceptions, like the bio-degradable kind made of corn starch, Styrofoam peanuts wind up in land fills where they last forever. Instead, just pick up your phone, listen for the tone and dial 1-(800)-828-2214. You will be told where to drop off your Styrofoam peanuts for recycling and reuse. It's a selfless New Year's resolution and an earth-friendly thing to do. And that's the On The House tip for today.
