Krazy-Glue Bandages

The first glue factory in the United States opened in Boston on this day in 1807. Since then, we’ve come a long way with high-tech adhesives for every use imaginable. Some are truly amazing. Do your bandages always seem to fall off, get wet or come loose? Now -- direct from the front lines in Vietnam to your home -- comes a most creative use of those super-duper hydrocarbon-based ethyl cyanocrytate resin adhesives better known as Krazy Glue. While the label says to “avoid contact with skin” because “instant bonding may occur,” it’s precisely why field medics in the war and later doctors and dermatologists stateside started using it for instant bandages. It can seal and hold everything from paper cuts to serious wounds. And that's the On The House tip for today.
