Pest Control: Mistaken Identity

Termites and carpenter ants appear to be similar, but really are quite different. When you find what appears to be sawdust below a wooden beam or fascia board, with little winged creatures coming and going, it doesn't always mean you have termites. If the centers of their bodies are pinched in, they're carpenter ants and are far less destructive. Still, they need to be exterminated with an insecticide. Termites, on the other hand, devour wood at a rapid rate, and, thus, require quick action and professional attention. So, the next time you see telltale sawdust, take a close look to determine the cause.
