Tip of the Day

Raising Cane

Got a "sinking" feeling today because it's tax time? Or because it's the day the Titanic sank in 1912? Or, just maybe it's because you're sitting on a cane seat that's sagging. Here's how to "raise cane" when cane seats droop. When such a seat sags, you can tighten it up by wetting it with hot soapy water with a few spoonfuls of salt added. After rinsing with clean water and blotting dry with a clean rag or paper towels, set the chair out in the sun to air-dry. It will start to tighten up as it dries. When it's almost fully dried, cover the caning with a cloth then run a hot iron over it. It soon will look like new.
