Here's our semi-annual "timely" reminder to change your clocks and check your batteries. At 2 a.m. tomorrow morning Daylight Savings Time begins. This year when you "spring forward," check batteries in all household smoke detectors, too. And there's one more thing you should do -- and it's an important one. If you are checking in on an elderly person to make sure his or her clocks are changed and all detector batteries are fresh, take an extra moment to write the date on all new replacement batteries. This is especially important when more than one person is checking the battery status. You might have diligently changed the batteries, but the next checker has no way of knowing you've done so. Write the replacement date on each new battery. Then everyone who checks will know which ones are good and which ones need to go.
