Tip of the Day

Mission: Ice Check

To determine, after a storm or another cause for a power outage, if the power was off long enough for any frozen foods to thaw, try this: Look in the freezer compartment (where you will have earlier placed a penny on top of an ice cube). If the telltale coin is still on top, the freezer stayed cold, and the food therein remained frozen. However, if the penny is below the ice, it signifies thawing has taken place and food contamination is likely. For more tips, visit our Web site at Onthehouse.com.
