Home Theater: Silent Movies

What's the latest in home-theater technology? Bigger screens, plasma, LCD, high-tech seats? Today, in part I of home theater review, it's silent movies. We're not talking about old black-and-white films. The new trend is toward totally sound-proofed home theaters wherein homeowners can escape the outside world while fully immersed in their favorite film experience. No being distracted by phones, doorbells, household activities or family members. It works the other way, too. A fully sound-proofed theater keeps roaring sound tracks from intruding upon other parts of the home, where explosions, gun fights and military choppers might not be welcome. To accomplish this, many high-tech fully-equipped home theaters are now being rebuilt and relocated into more remote settings such as the garage or in new "boom room" additions. Today, "silent movies" means just that -- silence -- both ways. Tomorrow in part II of home theater review, it'll be 3-D coming at you.
