Paper For Size And Placement

Today kicks off the Chinese New Year -- 4702. It's The Year of the Rooster. Back in 105 A.D., paper was invented in china. Today you'll learn that this old Chinese invention not only is suitable for writing and wrapping, it's used for planning placement and gauging dimensions, too. Want to arrange a group of paintings or photos on a wall? Cut their shapes and sizes out in paper and first arrange them on the floor. Installing recessed can lights overhead? To plan their placement, cut 6-inch circles of black and white paper and tape them where you want the lights to go. Move them until you get what you want. White shows what they'll look like when they're on, and black will show the holes with no light. To help you decide what size area rug to buy, start laying out sheets of newspaper until you achieve the right proportions. Measure the length and width and then go shopping!
