"Magnum PI" made its debut on television this day in 1980. In one episode, Magnum found Higgins under his desk plugging a desk lamp into a power strip. "Wanna get rid of those wires on the floor?" he asked. Hitting his head on the desk, Higgins replied: "Ouch, OK, how?" "Look on the back, suggested Magnum.? "I see some keyhole slots," said Higgins. "Right, those are for wall mounting," instructed Magnum. "Just put some screws under your desk and mount it up off the floor." An hour later, he found Higgins still struggling. It seems, after several attempts, he couldn't get the screws and holes to line up correctly. Reaching for a pencil and paper, Magnum put the paper on the back of the power strip and rubbed the pencil over it. The result? A perfect template for the mounting screws.
