Today is Flag Day. It was started in 1916 to honor America, and ever since, on this day, Old Glory is proudly flown on millions of flagpoles from border to border and coast to coast. In advertising, there's also a famous saying regarding any new product or idea: ?Let's run it up the flagpole and see who salutes.? In other words, ?Let's put it out there and see what happens.? At the recent hardware show in Chicago, just such an event took place with a simple idea that garnered a lot of attention. Kwik Bag is an oversized dust pan of sorts that clips onto rolling trash cans. Basically, after putting in a plastic bag, you clip the pan on the front edge and lay the can down in front of a raked-up pile of leaves, grass, or construction debris. Rake it onto the pan, stand the can upright, and presto gone-o, it's in the can with no bending! It's a simple idea that had everyone saying ?Why didn't I think of that?? Well, inventor Wilson Springs II did. Mr. Springs, we salute you!
