Tip of the Day

Car "Clunk" Stoppers

The first Ford Mustang rolled off the assembly line on this day in 1954. Today, whether you drive a hot number like this or a conservative beige four-door, we'll bet you've got stuff in your car that goes "clunk" when you stop, start, or turn a corner. Besides being annoying, things slide out of reach, disappear under seats, and bang around in your trunk. It's probably wearing out your carpeting, too! Today you'll learn how to keep things in place...whether you're off to the store or driving a race! Indeed, pieces of soft rubber mesh (the kind used to line shelves and drawers and to keep area rugs from sliding around) provide good "anti-slip" traction for all sorts of items in your car, too. A small piece on the dash or console keeps cell phones, sunglasses, and toll road change close at hand. Larger pieces in your trunk, on the back shelf, or the floor mats keep packages, groceries, or your other stuff in place.
